Kuukama Oktoberfest was an idea created by the Bunten (170 Kuukama) and Helchinger (211 Kuukama) Ohana in 2022. Both families come from German a background, and they wanted to create a fun neighborhood event to help build community following the years of COVID-19 isolation.
No dress code, but all are highly encouraged to wear traditional German attire such as Dirndl or Lederhosen. Prizes will be awarded for best dressed, and best stein!
Absolutely! Kuukama Oktoberfest is a family-friendly event and there are activities for children, such as cornhole, bocce ball, and a bouncy house.
No! More than anything, we want to bring the neighbors of Kuulei together for a few hours, or even just a few minutes. But this is Hawaii and everyone loves a potluck and wants to help. Fee free to sign up to bring something, or donate to our purchase of 4 kegs from Aloha Beer Company.
After the outpouring of offers to help and an over abundance of sausage, we realized we need to plan a little better. Signing up will help get a little better estimate. Don't worry, if you don't sign up, there will still be enough food and drink for everyone and we hope you drop by even if you didn't sign up in advance.
Lemonade and water.
